Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of SecondLook (the “Service”), an online tool that uses artificial intelligence to provide a plain-English second opinion on a home inspection report you provide. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What SecondLook is — and is not

SecondLook analyzes a home inspection report (and any photos you upload) and produces an AI-generated summary, severity ranking, estimated repair cost ranges, and negotiation guidance. SecondLook is an informational tool only. It is not a home inspection, engineering evaluation, appraisal, contractor bid, or legal, financial, or professional advice, and it does not create any professional or fiduciary relationship. The Service does not physically inspect any property. Its output is derived solely from the documents you supply and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always rely on a licensed home inspector, qualified contractor, or other professional before making decisions about a property or purchase.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

3. Your content

“Your Content” means the inspection reports, photos, property details, and other materials you upload. You retain ownership of Your Content. You grant SecondLook a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you — including sending it to our third-party AI and infrastructure providers for processing.

You represent that you have the rights necessary to upload Your Content and that doing so does not violate the rights of any third party (including the inspector or firm that authored the report) or any law.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload content you do not have the right to share, or that infringes another party’s intellectual property or privacy rights.
• Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive purpose.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or interfere with the Service or its security.
• Misrepresent the AI-generated output as a licensed inspection or professional opinion to any third party.

5. AI-generated output

Output is generated by automated systems and may contain errors, omissions, or “hallucinations.” Repair cost ranges are rough estimates, not quotes. You are solely responsible for verifying any output and for any decision you make in reliance on it. You may use the reports SecondLook generates for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

6. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including OpenAI (for AI analysis) and Supabase (for authentication, database, and file storage). Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers’ terms, and Your Content may be processed on their infrastructure as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and branding (excluding Your Content), is owned by SecondLook and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any output is accurate or complete.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SecondLook and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or USD $100.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SecondLook from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your reports at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which SecondLook is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
